My mother swears by this smoothie. After drinking it everyday for several months, she claims her clothes are looser, her skin glows, she has so much more energy, and her eyelashes – which had almost disappeared – can now rival Kim Kardashian’s.
I was a bit skeptical and I didn’t really even want to give it a chance. First off, it’s green. Really green. Snot green. Okay sorry – you got the picture.
Next, there’s not much fruit in it. If I drink a smoothie I want it to be full of strawberries, blueberries, peaches, and raspberries. Especially if it needs to mask something like spinach. This has one banana and 2 slices of pineapple. Not enough I say!
And finally, it has flaxseed in. I hate searching the store for weird ingredients that I will only use in one dish. This smoothie required a trip to not one, but TWO grocery stores. So not pleased. It wasn’t at Wal-Mart, so I went to Martins and stared at the baking section for about 10 minutes searching until I finally gave up. It wasn’t until I was about to leave I spotted an organic section. And low and behold there was that troublesome flaxseed.
You think that would be the end of the story, but no. Because I didn’t just find one package of flaxseed like I expected, I found about 8. Who knew there were so many varieties of flaxseed! Golden, organic, organic golden, whole seed, whole ground, organic golden whole seed…. you get the picture. And mom just told me flaxseed. What kind of flaxseed! I ended up getting the most generic and cheapest one (I figured that was what mom would do).
Now, onto the real story!
I was amazed at how good this tasted. It’s not like “yeah it tastes….okay… But it’s going to be worth it!” No. It’s like “Man this is good! Who cares what it does.” Somehow all vegetable flavors are masked. It’s creamy and refreshing.
But get this: I have been drinking this everyday for almost a month now. My skin looks clearer, my eye lashes have definitely grown longer and fuller, I have energy, and I’m not starving!
I use to have something small for breakfast: yogurt, egg, or oatmeal. But halfway though the morning I would be ravenous and attack my snack drawer at work.
When I have this smoothie for breakfast I’m more than good until lunch. It fills you up that much. You just don’t feel hungry at all until hours later.
I also told you how it gave me more energy. If I don’t drink the smoothie I’m a zombie by 1:30 pm. One smoothie in the morning – bright, active, and engaged all day. I mean it. It really is amazing how well it works.
