Our townhouse does not have a deck. So we are forced to look at a sad sliding glass door off of our kitchen/dining room every day. To make matter worse, the builders put up a standard ugly wooded gate, which prevents people from falling into the backyard below.
I my husband decided to turn this eyesore into pretty and essential herb garden.
The project was very simple and took us less than 20 minutes from start to finish. First we went to Home Depot and bought a wooden planter box ($10), planter box support brackets ($7), soil ($3), and various herbs ($3ea).
First hubby screwed the metal support brackets into the wooden gate outside our sliding glass door. Then he secured the planter box with the included flexible metal rods. Next we planted are herbs and voila a beautiful, yet functional herb garden right off the kitchen.
I can’t tell you how much I love this idea. It’s so easy to cut some fresh herbs while cooking, plus it offers a nice backdrop when we are eating at our dining room table. And the best part? It was less than $20 bucks in 20 minutes!
